What Movie(s) Did You Watch Today?

Re: Righteous kill -

agreed, they had a scene in Heat. I was looking at the big picture, characters, working to build the story. It is based on their relationship, partnership over 30 years... that was the foundation. not the greatest movie, but having 2 of my all time favorite actors working together made it for me. if u are fan of their body of work... then it's worth the 1 1/2 hours or so.

wow, watched a nmber of films over the weekend. its been a while since ive done that.

first off,

amazon's vod service on my panny sucks. it only does 2.0...

so,

watched the shadow, an all time classic favorite. went to frys the other day, still trying to scope if they have the dts version. gf saw it finally, she thought it was cool. batman with a nose.

watched live free or die hard because of the whole 'anonymous' situation... fire sale stuff... anyhoo, just in case someones trackin me, i just wanted to watch my dvd version. nothing else. :text-tmi:

waited till sunday, watched The Eagle per recommendation, man that was a great movie too! it reminded me of 'arn', and that was a great movie.

too bad they're arent any good roman movies aside from this, centurion, gladiator, arn, er... i forgot already. no, spartacus doesnt lie up my alley, i can handle decent b movie type action scenes, but ... soft porn? gotta be kiddin me.

Arn is about Ancient Rome (not medieval period)?
Cleopatra (1963) is a major movie about Roman period and so is Ben Hur.
King Arthur (2004) is so so even for those who like this genre.
Haven't seen The Last Legion (2007) but will be renting it soon.
There are others not as well known but some search would reveal them.
soft porn? gotta be kiddin me.
Spartacus has soft porn? :confusion-scratchheadblue: I thought that's what Caligula is for.

Rented "Sanctum" a James Cameron movie based on a true story about some deep cave explorers who get caught in a cave filling with water during a hurricane and how they have to explore caves that have never been explored before to try and find a way out. Very tense movie but slow at times. Worthy of a rental.

Arn was about a monk who turned into a knight during the crusades. Pretty good for what it was, i enjoyed that movie alot.

King Arthur - i agree, its a so so movie. saw that recently at target and even at 10 bucks for the blu-ray, i couldnt justify buying it.

The last legion - let me know how that goes.

Spartacus had a number of sex scenes and well, it didnt go well with me. i wanted action. not that kind of action - blood and gore gladiator material.

All in all, im looking for more recent swords and sandal movies.

Great suggestion by the way DIYer on these two movies. im glad i got The Eagle on blu-ray thanks to you.

Im currently watching Lincoln Lawyer. not bad, but not worth my purchase tho.

Sucker punch - worth it?

Only if you are into dark drama / tragedy.
CGI and action choreographs are decent (there is a scene ripped off from Harry Potter - Goblet of Fire).

I have to disagree with DIYer. Very good "popcorn" movie with some top notch reference material scenes.

Awesome movie. Quick rundown, a young man is sent back in time to try find the bomber of a train to stop future bombings. That's as vague as I can be, I loved it. Even had a small tear near the end...see it you won't regret it. :handgestures-thumbup: :handgestures-thumbup: :handgestures-thumbup: :handgestures-thumbup:
Yup. Two thumbs up! :handgestures-thumbupright: :handgestures-thumbupleft: Very entertaining.
The basic theme isn't anything new (Groundhog Day) but the pace, mystery and suspense are well mixed.

sent back in time
Not exactly. More of retracing the memory.

The HD NF streaming version of this is pretty high quality - both picture and sound.

Been years since I watched it and seeing it so well restored was very nice.

Watched a great movie that had me crying like a lil girl at the end. 'Hachi" is the true story of a loyal Akita dog who daily would go to the train station with his owner and then meet him back at the train station at the end of the day. This went on for years till one day the owner has a heart attack and dies and the dog for the rest of his life continues to go to the train station daily waiting for his owner. This all happened in the 30's in Japan. They actually erected a bronze statue to the dog and placed it where the dog would go daily as a reminder to what loyalty means. The movie version takes place in an American town (never mentioned) and the owner is played by Richard Gere and I caught this movie on the HallMark Channel. Trust me guys this one tugs on the heart strings. My GF actualy took a phone picture of me because in the 8 years we've been dating she has never seen me shed a tear and there I am tears just pouring out of my face. Great great movie. Not sure if it's on NF but maybe because I see they have other Hallmark movies on there. Carry some hankies though you'll need em.

Also saw "Cowboys and Aliens" on my computer, boy did that movie suck. I just wasn't drawn into it like others have been. Actually had to pause the movie a couple times to get up and stretch and wake up a little.

Don't waste your time.

Really? That's disappointing. It looked like it had promise and was at the top of the heap on viewings for vudu this weekend.

Anyway, I watched Limitless and I was pleasantly surprised. I recommend.

I know. Made a special trip to the rental store for it. A few good visuals and sound and the basic storyline was promising. The finished product just didn't measure up IMO.

We saw Super 8 at this weekend's date-night. What is it with JJ Abrams and lens flare? Anywho it was better than I expected. It's kind-of a mash-up of several other movies (Goonies, E.T.) but I thought it was good enough to recommend.
