Missed THOR at the theater but rented the BD this morning so will be watching tonight.

I saw this last night, but alas all I could get was the DVD version at the RedBox. Anyway... I thought the movie was rather enjoyable considering that I didn't even know it existed. I don't remember it being in theaters at all.

I watched the other night and thought it was pretty good, not as good as X-Men FC but still a good flick.

Thor was one of my favorite comics in the mid-60's when I was really into comic books. One of the things I really liked about the movie was the look in the "non Earth" scenes that mirrored the artwork of Jack Kirby. Asgard was very much like looking at panels from the old comics. They did their homework on this one to make it look like the comics.

got to watch a couple of movies yesterday, its nice to have a weekday 'off' so to speak.

Count of Monte Cristo

Wierd image tho, ive never seen Guy Pearce in the cover...

Smokin Aces

I never realized or confirmed that one of the 'brothers three' is the guy from Star Trek, the 'bodyguard' from 3:10 to yuma, and well, the Alicia Keys lookalike isnt alicia keys. Still not a bad movie, been a while so i cant really say it was worth a justifiable blu-ray upgrade.

One thing tho that sticks to my mind when i see Ray Liotta is the scene in hannibal, almost the ending... yup THAT scene. ugh.

I can't remember if I've seen that one or not. It's either that one or the man in the iron mask that had all the cool sword fighting (fencing?). Great movie.

there are a couple of scenes with fencing in count of monte cristo, but not as many as man in the iron mask. id still stick with monte cristo.

for those interested, its on blu-ray for 17.99

i was planning to get this plus oh brother where art thou (which was also released last sept 13 thank you very much)...

lets go bananas again... :banana-rock:

"O Brother where art thou", is friggin hilarious and one of the best adaptions of a book of Homer's Odyssey (which I read in college). Just spot on casting all the way around.

Still dreaming of those sirens in the pond. Yummy!!!

I watched that movie with the ex-GF, and I don't remember that scene. Did she fast-forward it while I was in the can?... :angry-tappingfoot:

Are you a Dapper Dan man?

I think the O'Brother movie might be George Clooney's best acting job. His character was really good.

Love that movie too, and the soundtrack - one of the few soundtrack CDs I own.

This morning I watched "Everything Must Go" starring Will Ferrell. It's not a typical "Ferrell" comedy at all, but more so like "Stranger Than Fiction". Allmovie.com says it's a drama. Whatever it is, I liked it. It's a somewhat heartwarming film. Oh... and toward the end of the movie there's a scene where you can clearly see a cameraman's reflection. It's pretty obvious, but I'm not smart enough to know if this was somehow intentional or if it was deemed not a big enough deal to spend the money to fix the shot.

Tonight I plan to watch X-Men First Class on Vudu.

Gotta agree with Mzpro about the sound quality on "X-Men: First Class". It does sound fantastic! There's quite a bit going on in the surrounds and the subwoofer has plenty of thunderous moments.

Watched "Rio" with the GF two nights ago, boy did that movie ever suck. Started to doze halfway through and it never really caught back up with me. Very impressive beachside animation, but other than that, it was a dumb movie. I can see how kids would like it though.

Usually I like these type of movies, but I gotta agree with you Matt, I was struggling to stay awake with this one.

Saw it the other day. I too liked this movie. It really does have many eye-candies except for the part where Thor's warrior buddies walked into a small town in Arizona in broad daylight. :handgestures-thumbdown:

Sound quality: Very good.
Picture quality: See above.
Plot: I don't know much about comic books but I thought it was decent.
Overall: Good movie in this genre but not as good as Spider-Man 1 & 2, IMO.

Just started watching "Mars Needs Moms".

Don't know what possessed me to rent it, but I hope this fucker is short because this thing looks dumb. Plus it's got that "Polar Express" animation that kind of creeps me out. Anyway... the opening scenes show baby aliens being birthed from the ground in much the same way plants grow from a seed planted in soil. This wouldn't be so odd, considering they are aliens, but it opens up the question as to why the first adult alien women we see has such big birthing hips. (I swear she could pump out triplets quite easily.) And, finally, E.T.'s grandma scares me.

Just finished this one - Rango - with the family and enjoyed it very much! My 4yo was a bit lost  but it was otherwise a good movie for both kids and adults. Coulda sworn the "spirit of the west" guy was Eastwood, but guess not... A fun movie overall, and a free DVD rental for me from redbox which is a nice bonus.

Took my daughter to the 3-D showing of The Lion King at the theater today.

Pretty impressed by the picture and audio in the theater on his one. I have he DVD and we have watched it several times, I was a bit worried she would become bored, but she enjoyed it as much as I did.

Glad we were able to see it at the theater, it's only showing for 2 weeks.
