What Movie(s) Did You Watch Today?

as y'all know i love westerns, watched Meeks cutoff, hoping to get a glimpse of something new, something more realistic than True grit or what not... somewhat like proposition.

I knew starting it based on trailers it would be 'artsy'. i have a good amount of er... toronto film fest golden leaf kinda feel for movies, but man, this one was a little bit disappointing at the end.

im glad i bought it on dvd, and well, i dont see me watching this again. The ending was a pain in the butt.

I also did watch Minority report. but that was prior to this one.

had to find something better, went to get Seraphim Falls to get this bad taste out of my mouth.

I am so glad i bought and preordered Transformers 3. i need redemption.

I enjoyed it in the theaters. Liked it better than the 2nd. Are you getting this one on BluRay? If that guy referenced in Matt's thread is correct, you will be redeemed.

:happy-smileygiantred:

on a serious note, i dont drive so instead of buying it via Best buy (which is 9.99 for both 1 and 2, and 19.99 for T3, i did it via amazon)...

How soon most of us (normal people) forget about that great format. Say... out of curiosity. I wonder what would happen if you took 3 copies of the original Transformers on HD-DVD and jammed them all into the same player at once. I never was very good at math, but would the resulting movie be "Dark of the Moon"?

I have a good amount of HD-DVDs that I finally got the BD version of, one of them being Transformers, it's available along with the others. Would you HD-DVD guys be interested in a list of available titles?

Just got an email from Amazon - mine will be here tomorrow.

I wonder how many copies Flint is getting?

Jomari, or anyone else....I haven't seen "The Hanging Tree" in like decades. Sure would like to see this movie again. Seems its only on VHS. Anyone know why ? I'm not buying a VHS & the prices are way up there.

i can just imagine that most studios do not want to invest in such dated material unless theres a big name involved. yes i see it has gary cooper in it, but they dont consider much unless they KNOW theres a profit in it.

some dude purchased it via amazon and got a bootleg cd/vcd... is it worth it? in this case id say so, considering it would be highly unlikely for it to come out in a physical format.

it MIGHT come out tho via streaming, but that decision once again falls in their hands.

Sorry bud. i wonder what other classics out there arent even on dvd.

Bats I think I have moat of what you have in HD-DVDs but please post list as there maybe a few I don't have.

Today the GF and I saw "A Dolphin Tale" and "Elite Killers". Will say that A Dolphins tale is a fantastic family film that shows how humans and dolphins can both overcome obstacles and strive to better themselves. One of the best family films I've seen in a long time.

Elite Killers with Jason Statham, Bobby DeNiro and Clive Owen is also based on a true story that tells the story of a European SAS mission in the 80's that took place involving revenge and Saudi Arabian revenge on an Arabs man quest to kill those who killed his sons. Great suspense thriller but was slow in the middle. Out o the two, I really liked the dolphin movie alot better.

Watched Paul last night (BD from redbox), enjoyed it very much! Loved all the references to various "classic" sci-fi films, including the music in the bar!

Transformers Dark of the Moon

Pretty good movie, excellent BD. I had not seen it in the theater but bought a copy any ways. PQ and SQ are great, definitely demo material.

The movie itself was way better than 2 with a decent story and a couple of surprises ( I won't reveal now).

Definitely worth a rental and a must have if you like the franchise and/or genre.

i agree mzpro,

watched it yesterday, thought it was a different pace, great movie all in all. i was guessing septimus primes voice and got it after 5 seconds. :D

anyways, the first part of the movie is DEFINITELY demo material, and probably the main reason why i bought it on blu-ray.

the actor portraying kennedy had some WAY off hairdew compared to the real one. :D

Also watched From Hell with Johnny depp.

good story, missplaced here and there stuff, a little unorganized, but good. i cant recall tho 'when' they officially called him Jack tho. anyways, not bad, not the best.

forgot to mention watched

I am number four

over the weekend, not bad, but definitely a teeneeboppers movie.

Watched "Contagion" today, working in healthcare I can see the potential ramifications of what a virus like this can do. The mere fact that in Africa there currently is a virus that so far has killed about 80 people in a similar fashion makes this all the more scary. Society as a whole has no idea just how fast and under prepared we are as a whole to conqour a major virus like this and how it would effect society as a whole. Seems every 2-3 decades we get something new that scares the hell out of scientists and so far we have been very lucky with vaccines being available but there are a few that could make a comeback that we don't have enough vaccines for. The last two minutes of that movie show just easy it is for a virus to meet that perfect host and then all shit will hit the fan. You think your local hospital is the way too go, but working in healthcare I can tell you how ill prepared for a national emergency all hospitals are. It's borderline scary.

The movie itself was just okay, but it cleary shows how a viral pandemic will grow and how fast it will happen. Truly scary stuff.

I've been wanting to see that, just because its a more realistic "disaster"...
