What Movie(s) Did You Watch Today?

Oh. It was... okay. I really, really enjoyed Iron Man and was hoping this would be similar, but I wish I'd rented it instead.

This (Hero) is, right now anyway, my very favorite asian/martial arts movie (though Crouching Tiger is up there). I especially love the use of color, mostly monochromes, throughout this film, it's just extraordinary artistically; I have a thing for monochromatic art in other contexts as well. And the story's great, too. I actually watched this - with my dad, who said it was "weird" - on Christmas Eve after the kids went to bed. I think it was the third or maybe even fourth time I've seen it, but I feel like I really understood the plot and especially the characters almost for the first time with this viewing, especially Broken Sword. There's a lot of depth here underneath the beautiful cinematography, and - though I'm no critic of this - the good martial arts acting. But to me the fighting ranks very low on the reasons why I enjoy the movie so much.

Great, great movie.

The wife and I watched this last night. Of course I knew how it began and how it would end but I had no idea how much time the production would spend on character development. In my mind there are more than a few plot holes but still, how much can you expect for a flick about apes taking over the planet? Fun movie but it's a definite rental and not worth owning, IMHO.

I couldn't make it all the way through the Mark Wahlberg version and the original Heston version of POTA is too different to compare.

forgot to mention, aside from watching that pos green lantern movie, i watched the debt during the holidays.

great movie, definitely another side of the mossad we never knew...

worth a rental, pass on the purchase for me.

Watched Colombiana and was quite impressed, Movie was written by Luc Besson who did "The Transporter, The Professional and The Fifth Element" Zoe Saldana who not only is smoking hot but does a great job as the main assassin in this action flick. very good IMO.

Conan the Barbarian (2011)

This was actually a pretty good movie.

I read all the Conan stories in my teens and this movie is much closer to Robert E Howard's vision than the Arnold version. Lots of swords and blood.

And the female lead looks a lot like a young Jodie Foster.

I will be looking for a used copy or the price to drop but will be buying.

^ How would you compare it to Arnold version in terms of the quality of entertainment?

It would be hard to rate one over the other, they are different but both very entertaining IMO.

If I had to choose one over the other I would take the newer one because it was truer to the original Howard stories.

An interesting flick about a high stakes game of Russian roulette. Jason Staham, Mickey Rourke. More a suspense movie than an action flick.

Entertaining and definitely worth a rental.

watched the A team last night,

man i was pleasantly surprised.

definitely worth the 10 bucks or less i bought it for.

a treat for your subwoofer, and well, the story, albeit weak, it was a fun, fun ride. its been a while since ive enjoyed a few hours of impact, surrounds, and some fancy schmancy footwork.

great beer movie.

or if your sick movie.

Hell, I'll watch anything with Jessica Beil at least once :bow-blue:

the amazing thing about movies is how somewhat its a great reflection of what we dream of, and what we fear the most in our lives.

this is a perfect example.it always has been since its inception in the 70's, and how well, it shows our imagination working on the concept of evolution, and a great twist into the darkest part of it.

what would happen if we find ourselves not on top of the mountain, but second place? and to whom? our predecessor, the ape.

rise of the planet of the apes brought something NEW to the storyline. i appreciated the fact that i ended up thinking, i was emotionally immersed with the characters, knowing, feeling, familiar with what was happening to them as a family, but as a protagonist.

its not their faults, it was actually their driving force that we wanted to make things work. we wanted something GOOD. pure faith that this was going to work.

amazingly solid storyline.

eye candy? easy.

strike a chord in your humanity? now THATS hard.

highly recommended. not only because towen gave this to me, but because you deserve to see this movie.

Watched last night and like you j I really enjoyed. The storyline had much more depth than I expected. Will be looking for a used copy and wonder if a sequel is planned.
