one thing that caught me offguard last sunday was watching the tv on channel 2,

saw and sat down most of the time watching an old school classic.

Watched Real Steel wasn't too impressed maybe because I saw all facets of this movie in other better movies. Also saw Harold and Kumar Christmas movie man was that hilarious a lot of inside jokes and better than Guatanamo Bay.

Real Steel.

Good entertainment. It’s got decent character development and story. It’s based on the classic father and son relationship theme. Acting was acceptable but I’ve seen better. The action was good for this genre. Now the special effects, I would say it’s top notch! Plus lots of deep bass (at least in my system, Matt :teasing-neener: ). Two thumbs up from me.

Why? :confusion-scratchheadblue:

i guess you can call me tradtional, but i liked how she looked like in the 1977 picture, compared to the others.

and no, that doesnt mean i like the 70s bush pron tho... :angry-tappingfoot:

also, started watching the parent trap (the original one) and gf helped me out a bit with storyline. i liked it a lot. too bad i couldnt finish it because we needed to head on out...

^ I would say Dolly held up better than most celebs of her age.

Very, very true.

The sad part? even kenny rogers looks worse than she does.

Might as well add kenny loggins on the list as well.

Looks like Bizarro from superman comics.

Or that android from Red something... (that old uk show)..

You gotta be kidding me. With all the plastic surgery she looks grotesque in that 2006 photo. Her head looks like it is 2 sizes too big for her body and that mouth WTF?

These celebrities think plastic surgery will preserve them but in many cases they look totally weird and unnatural, especially the ones that have it done a lot. Better to just age gracefully and accept it.

I think she held up better than most celebs of her age. There are few who did better than Dolly (I didn't say she held up best).

I can honestly say I have never looked at Dollies head.

Watched "The Double" with Richard Gere and Topher Grace (That 70's Show) was really surprised at how entertaining thos movie was. Is on Netflix and recently released on Redbox. Check it out.

An ok movie, a bit slow. If you are a baseball fan definitely worth a rental, if not I would say pass on it.

^ I really didn't care for that movie at all. I can't believe Pitt was up for an Oscar for that role and I thought he was mis-cast. But he was also a producer so I guess he gave himself the role. As a daily listener to local sports radio, ive heard there are a lot of inaccuracies as well, beyond the scope of cinematic liberties...

Kingdom of Heaven Extended/Directors Cut
- Man, this movie was amazing. I cant really find the right words for it. definitely, definitely a huge improvement over the original version. Im glad i got this on blu-ray and see myself watching it again someday. A painful experience to watch 3 hours straight, but an hour a day made me smile. :)

War of the Arrows,

Great movie. I have high expectations whenever i see archer movies, just because i love how rare they are and how most of the times, we get a few smiles seeing how it works and all.

Anyways, the storyline was great, action was awesome for what its worth. A purchase on my end, but maybe a rental for others. I was let down with the ending, but, oh well. Typical korean flicks have weaker endings. check it out.

Wierdly enough, i also partially watched parent trap (the original) last last sunday. i thought it was amusing, and i didnt know at one point that it was ONE person. kewl.

I watched with a couple friends that came over to watch Daytona but with the race cancelled we gave it a try.

We probably missed a third of the film as it was so slow we started unrelated conversations.

And I also couldn't believe Pitt was up for an Oscar, thankfully he didn't win.

^ yes the pace was incredibly slow. And another thing, to me they portrayed Billy Beane leaning heavily on the advice of Peter Brand...and if Peter Brand's contributions are even half of what the movie made it out to be, Beane is nowhere near the baseball genius he's thought as and overvalued immensely.

Peter Brand is not a real person! The character is a composite of several people but primarily Paul DePodesta. DePodesta refused to sign off on the movie.

J. Edgar

Not sure what I think of this but the more I think about it the more I like it.

More of a character study than a bio pic it focuses on two era's of Hoover's career, the 1930's and the Lindbergh kidnapping, which brought the FBI to the fore, and the 1960's when Hoover was fighting with Bobby Kennedy and harassing Martin Luther King.

Also a fair amount of time devoted to Hoover's relationship with Clyde Tolson his deputy, confident and suspected lover.

Clint Eastwood directed and did a good job of showing how complex a person Hoover was. He also wrote the music for the film.

It is not something I would buy because I just wouldn't watch it again for a long time. Definitely worth a rental if you are interested in history.

Watched Casino Royale last night, I thought I hadn't seen it before but apparently I had because I remember bits and pieces of it from some time ago, but none of the details. Actually a pretty good movie I thought, and deeper in the characters somehow than the earlier "classic" Bond movies. I watched Quantum of Solace last week but it was confusing and I didn't understand what they were talking about with the whole Vesper thing, so now that CR is fresh in my mind, I'm gonna watch QoS again. Looking forward to the next installment which I gather is coming out sometime this year.

Interesting - just noticed on IMDB that Daniel Craig plays Blomkvist in the american Girl with Dragon Tattoo (which I have not yet seen). Cool.

Hugo

I had a few people tell me this was a good movie but I really had no idea what to expect before watching. A very good movie IMO.

Visually and surround sound wise it was stellar (sorry Matt no big bass). This is one movie i wish I had seen in 3D in the theater as it seems like the type of movie that could take advantage of 3D without being "gimmicky" ( like 3D that flint speaks of).

A good storyline especially for us movie fans.

Will definitely be picking this up when I can get it at a reasonable price.
