What Movie(s) Did You Watch Today?

In the name of the King

- i thought transporter 2 and 3 sucked. i stand corrected.

i wanted a good movie to follow up my stint with Kingdom of Heaven, and i sadly picked this one. since my sister and cousin are off at vegas right now.

my gf loved it.

i couldnt stand the first 15 minutes of it. krug reminded me of orc lite. the costume was horrible.

anyways, just a heads up. i didnt immensely enjoy it, but lee lee whatever her name was, is STILL hot.

Watched this with -B- today. I really enjoyed this movie a lot. Stories of two brothers ultimately merged into one. Fights were well done and not over-the-top or gimmicky. I found myself completely invested in both brothers' stories along with the father's baggage...I buy most of the movies I watch so I'd say it's probably a rental for most unless you're a sports fan, especially mixed martial arts. :handgestures-thumbup: :handgestures-thumbup: :handgestures-thumbup:

Hugo

I had a few people tell me this was a good movie but I really had no idea what to expect before watching. A very good movie IMO.

Visually and surround sound wise it was stellar (sorry Matt no big bass). This is one movie i wish I had seen in 3D in the theater as it seems like the type of movie that could take advantage of 3D without being "gimmicky" ( like 3D that flint speaks of).

A good storyline especially for us movie fans.

Will definitely be picking this up when I can get it at a reasonable price.
LOVED this movie. When I saw it at the theater last year, I went in expecting one thing and got so much more. I consider it one of the best movies of 2011! It's right up there with the best movies to put 3D to good use. I purchased it this week, but I'm gonna try to save watching it again for my new 3D JVC hopefully this summer if not sooner...

Loved this movie also. Had to pause the movie a few times to give the GF a few bits of tidbits about the toymaker/director they were portraying in this movie. Also how Martin Scorsese was the one to give Sacha Baron Cohen his press pass and invite to crash last weeks Academy Awards since he had been banned. Overall great movie and fanstaic homage to movies of the 20's. Ben Kingsley did another fantastic job.

Unknown.

Good suspense. Similar to Taken but thicker plot. I would recommend it to those who are into this type of action / suspense movie or fan of Diane Kruger.

Matt, there is ass rumbling bass towards the end. It'll be a good climax for you.

Streamed "Hobo with a Shotgun" on netflix and I think as far as i can remember back this must be the worst movie Ive ever sat thru and finished.

Immortals

The story was so-so but definite reference material for both SQ and PQ. Matt you will not be disappointed in the LFE on this one.

I rented it but when I can get a used copy I will definitely be buying just to show off my HT.

4 stars out of 5 from me. Technicality-wise, this movie is fantastic. It clearly shows that the work is by a veteran director. Editing, screenplay, special effects and how it's all put together is... great! It is a masterpiece. PG rating made it somewhat bland for my taste which kept me from giving 5 out of 5 stars. Still highly recommend it. :handgestures-thumbup:

watched this one too, right after drive.

*sigh* bought both.

anyways,

immortals, as always has been compared to 300, but id say its a step down to the already passe' movie. is it good? sure it is, but not as good as 300. i KNOW it couldve been better. reminded me of clash with the titans.

beautiful but man, i had to bring up the brightness a bit, despite it almost perfect to my settings. its just a darker movie thats all.

anyways, about DRIVE,

80s to the max man.

i really wish i didnt buy it. it had so many moments with that extra one and a half second stare that makes a perfect moment an akward one. the girl seems kinda 'off' but hey, it felt amatuerish.

anyways, the guy only drives for 3 times i think. it shouldve been called stab. or stare.

rent in my book. eye candy, but man i think i have to watch it again to see how it worked out to be called an underdog.

one thing tho, id have to say i was encapsulated by the helicopter over the air hd panoramic shots - beautiful eye candy. probably the only redeeming point of the movie.

i cant wait for tin tin.

Jomari I'll be more than happy to take "Drive" off your hands. I actually really liked that movie (maybe cause I'm an 80's kinda guy) :happy-smileygiantred:

Watched Hugo this morning on Bluray. First hour seemed a little slow, but visually a very stunning movie! I don't think of this as a kids movie, too much going on, and the 9 year old had seen it at school and didn't want to watch again. Probably need to see it again to really appreciate it, very worthy of a rental for sure.

Interesting movie. It's little different in a good way. Similar to 'The American' (George Clooney), slow paced with very few words but the story is told via the picture itself. I happened to like this style of movie so I'm giving it 4 out of 5 stars.

The beginning of this movie really keeps the suspense going without many words, big actions or special effects, which I find it exciting because it gets the job done differently from the typical action / drama movies these days. I would recommend it to those who looking for action movies with different flavor.

I picked up a used copy for $15. Included the DVD and digital copy.

Watched the first Harry Potter (Sorcerer's Stone) with the kids today, the first time they've seen the whole thing - we started it maybe a year ago but it was a bit too "scary" for them at the time. Anyway, I'm always pleased at how well Rowling sets up this world in the first book/movie; even though I've seen this and read this book multiple times, the story still touches me with its originality and creativity. Guess that's why JKR is now a billionaire!

rented conagher with sam elliott...

didnt know it was a television series. not the best out there, but it was fun while it lasted.

for what its worth, storyline was great, and loved the little interactions here and there. good movie!

also watched the postman with kevin costner again,

it was fun for a while, and just enjoyed the fact it was set in 2013.
