Classic Tunes, Classic videos

Newborn eyes always cry with pain,
At the first look of the morning sun...

Don't know why this one popped into my head today, but it did.

I had no idea that Canada missed out on the third wave of pop-rock bands. Did you miss out on the Beatles and Kinks in the second wave? What about the first wave with Buddy Holly and Roy Orbison? And the fourth wave with Elvis Costello and The Pretenders?
Getting caught up is half the fun.

And who are these kinky beetles about whom doth speak?

Jeff

I dismissed Duran Duran during their heyday, damn pretty boys made for MTV.
But. How come I keep singing their hits in the shower? Why do their melodies stick like glue?
This video is "meh", and the song wasn't on their Greatest Hits, but you'll recognize it, and be singing it the rest of the week. You're Welcome!

Man I love the 80's!!!

Just saw this writeup posted on Farcebook:

http://www.salon.com/2017/08/04/they-were-just-what-we-needed-why-the-cars-matter/

...and it made me think of one of the funniest videos ever made:

Nobody near my own age can ever forget Ric's head buzzing around on a housefly's body!
I don't think I've even ever heard Panorama, much less own it; may have to hit Amazoid. I've noticed that remastered versions of several Cars albums have been hitting the market lately, but if they're not 5.1 I probably won't double-dip. The first band I played in that wasn't country (and me sporting my new DX-7, Korg EX-800 analog MIDI synth, and Roland string machine) did Drive and was a fun/educational tune for me to figure out, program, and perform.
I'll probably be watching old Cars videos the rest of tonight; good stuff!

I was disappointed with my copy, a couple decades ago, of Bobby Goldsboro's GH. It didn't have a song that I'd remembered, "Muddy Mississippi Line"; I'd always wanted to mash that up with "Gimme Some Lovin'"! Here it is:

HAH! Whilst visiting the restroom immediately after posting that ^^^, I realized that stupid disco track "Knock on Wood" would make a perfect third addition! Dammit, now I gotta join a band just to make this happen! :listening:

This song rocks

Lots of songs by The Cult rock, She Sells Sanctuary, Fire Woman, Love Removal Machine... Loves me some Cult. Love Removal Machine was one of the first songs I played live on stage with a real live rock n roll band.

I think we all know this song featuring that crappy drummer that Flint dislikes. It is special to me because when I got my first "real" stereo I was able to pull in CFNY radio out of Toronto on the FM dial . Their tagline was "The Spirit of Radio"
A song was born!!
