^ Haven't watched that one yet but I love Dio. Great career with Sabbath, Rainbow, and solo. A lot of great albums.

^ Those 2 above were the $3.99 specials.............

I love DIO also, saw him when he was with Rainbow in a small venue on LI NY back in the late 70's, second row! Cozy Powell was on the drums.............

What a VOICE!!

I can't believe it took me all these years to find out about Steven Wilson and his works!

This was great!

There was a blurb in the new Sound+Vision, a 5-disk boxed set celebrating Tears for Fears' Music from the Big Chair. I never got into the band when they were popular (I think their videos kind've steamrolled the actual music) but picked up the CD a few years ago. I was surprised at how intricate it was, really ended up enjoying it a lot.
Well, one of the disks in this new set is a 5.1 mix bluray. I didn't want to buy the whole $et, but got onto Amazon and sure enough the bluray is available separately, :banana-dance: I ordered it yesterday.
Mixed by, you guessed it, Steven Wilson. :handgestures-thumbup:

Oh YEA BABY.....................Headbanging Tonight!! (another $3.99 wonder)

If you are into their stuff..............this gets.............. :music-rockout: :music-rockout: :music-rockout: :music-rockout:

Coming back to this one (again), it's a true classic in my book. Damn, I can't believe Botti was 47 when this video was shot, he looks like he's about 30. And Billy Kilson (the drummer, who if I were a drummer is who I'd want to be, damn) is also about that age. This concert is amazing, and the list of stars he parades through the stage is endless... Sting, Yo-yo Ma, Catherine McPhee, Josh Groban, Steven Tyler, John Mayer... wow. Botti has a unique ability to adapt to and thrive with such a variety of musicians and styles, it's really rather impressive.

This concert has been around for a while, but if you haven't seen it, get it. Now. PQ and SQ are outstanding.

WOW.........Another GREAT ONE!!

A Review From Blu Ray.Com; Nov. 2010

Earlier this year the world lost a man who many considered a living legend – Ronald James Padavona a.k.a Ronnie James Dio. A former vocalist of Elf, Black Sabbath, Dio, Rainbow, and Heaven & Hell, Dio was an inspirational figure for countless singers and musicians around the world.

Recorded live at the legendary Astoria Theatre in London on October 22, 2005, Holy Diver – Live was the final show from Dio's - Dio, Doug Aldrich (Guitar), Rudy Sarzo (Bass), Simon Wright (Drums), and Scott Warren (Keyboards) - British tour. In front of an overly enthusiastic crowd, Dio performed the entire "Holly Diver" album, selected classic Dio hits, as well as classic Black Sabbath and Rainbow hits.

Holy Diver - Live is a special show for a number of different reasons. First, there are songs in it which prior to this tour Dio never performed live. Considering the classic status the "Holy Diver" album has enjoyed amongst heavy metal fans during the years, it truly is special to hear these songs live for the first time.

Second, Dio was in his 60s when the show was filmed, yet his voice is beyond impressive. I've seen him a number of times performing live and on "Straight Through The Heart", "Rainbow In The Dark" and "Gates Of Babylon" he sounds as good as he ever has.

Third, there is a great chemistry between Dio and the rest of the band members. From "Tarot Woman" to "Stand Up And Shout" to "Heaven And Hell", Doug Aldrich's solos are outstanding, perfectly complimenting Dio's powerful singing. Simon Wright's support is also fantastic (what a great drum solo). Legendary bassist Rudy Sarzo, who was once part of Whitesnake and Quiet Riot, and Scott Warren are also on fire.

With approximately 2000 fans inside the venue, Holy Diver-Live boasts an excellent club atmosphere. The stage is very simple but elegant, and the stage lighting not overwhelming. The fans are as enthusiastic as the band and clearly having a terrific time.

^--- Thanks Heeman! Just finished watching this one. I always liked Dio; I had a brief period in high school where I purported to be a metal head, and this was one of my favorites. I thought Dio was musically more interesting than most of the heavy metal thrash stuff going on at the time. (I still listen to some Judas Priest and Ozzy occasionally, too...)

This was a good concert. Yeah Dio himself is aging at this point (RIP now), but can still sing. I have some thoughts... forgive me, I've also had a couple of drinks along the course of the evening so I'm being blunt. ;)

I wasn't sure what to make of the drummer (Simon Wright), until his extended solo - then my opinion of him went up several notches.

The bassist was ok, too interested in acting the part of the rock star IMHO but he could play.

The keyboardist was completely useless. In the 60 seconds I could actually hear him in the mix, he was doing single-note stuff that my 8 year old could play.

I was most impressed by the guitarist - Doug Aldrich. He's really talented. A pretty guy too - must be a hit with the ladies, though I noticed in the crowd shots on this video that the audience was 98% dudes, so maybe he's SOL in that regard. But he could play. I was more than a little amused that for the majority of the concert he used a Les Paul gold top, very similar to a signature model of such a guitar of a certain blues rock guitarist I admire. I expected someone in a heavy metal band to play some showy guitar with a skull shaped body or something, that looks cool but sounds like shit. Kudos to Aldrich for playing a REAL guitar. He sounded great. Even did a lot of string bends that you also see more in blues than heavy metal.

Anyway, good show, thanks for the recommendation.

Glad you enjoyed it!

Doug had recently re-joined the band for this show and was playing on a rented rig. Doug was very unhappy with this show and his performance, go figure!

Check out his Dougs' Bio, a very interesting career especially with Whitesnake.

I agree about the bassist and keyboard player comments................and I am NOT drinking yet, it is only 9:54 AM.

I thought that the Picture Quality was very good and the Audio was just above average, but I am a HUGE DIO Fan.

About to give this a viewing. Hopefully the live performance is more enjoyable than the studio CD release.

It would seem so.

I don't see it though. Unless by "metal head" he was referring to Chopin played on a harpsichord.
