The Witcher 3 : Wild Hunt

Are you guys still playing? I have gotten busy and have not had too much time. I just put in about an hour. I am nearly Lvl 11. Spending time in Velen trying to knock out quests and contracts from easiest to hardest. I've got a long way to go. I already picked up a badass sword that will unlock when I hit lvl 13.

at level 11 but enjoying every bit of it.

just finished the baron segment, that was emotional and well done.

cant wait to do kiera.

literally.

Yeah, still playing, at level 20 (I think) and in Skellige now. I continue to be impressed with this game, great story line and even the side quests are for the most part fairly interesting, new characters to meet and interact with (yeah like Kiera). I now have a full set of enhanced griffin armor + swords.

I've had a few glitches since the 1.05 patch (on PC), dunno if it's just coincidence... but overall the game's pretty stable. I'm revising my opinion upwards of the graphics quality, it really is quite good and they put a lot of detail even into trivial side stuff like random buildings or ruins or caves.

The only thing I still suck at is Gwent. I've tried building up my deck over time but I still get my ass kicked mostly. I've kinda given up on it.

What size screen do you guys play on? This game makes me want to step up from 50" to 60" in my office!

Mine's a lowly 23" (1080p resolution), but I sit with my head about 1.5' away... looks pretty good. I can play in my HT as well, on my (again lowly) 46", but I can't sit quite as close so overall the field of view is larger on my desktop monitor.

The one advantage to using my HT for gaming is that I can get surround sound, which is (for some games) amazingly cool. Borderlands 2 was awesome this way, you could hear enemies shooting at you from behind, it was wild. I actually haven't tried it with Witcher, will do so at some point...

level 16, finally going to skellige in a few hours. :music-rockout:

Cool man, we are pretty close to each other. I am lvl 14 and still hanging in Novigrad. Been busy, haven't had enough time to put in many power sessions in the last week.

I'm at 23 or 24, mostly done with Skellige, except some side-quests that are still to high a level. Working on getting the master armorer and blacksmith set up back on the mainland.

Make sure you guys do the Cerys (daughter of Crach) series of side quests in Skellige, good mini storyline there.

my favorite as of the moment was Bloody baron and the Friends with benefits.

Spoiler alert...

To be honest, Botchlings are sort of 'real' in our provinces, and this quest got it spot on with regards to the importance of 'bonding a name' with a child, especially given the circumstances.

Sporting the Enhanced Griffin Armor right now. I want my feline stuff.

Where is everyone in the game? I am nearly level 17. Still messing around in Novigrad. I am about to go bounce Dandelion out of captivity.

One thing I am finding a little annoying is that the XP awarded for side quests is almost nothing compared to the main quest XP. I spent most of my early time on side quests and now I am doing main story quests. I have a hard time deciding when take on the side jobs vs. main story.

Also, what is everyones strategy on inventory? How many swords do you keep? How much armor to you hold on to? I have so much crap in my alchemy area I have no idea what to keep and what to sell. I have inventory capacity of 160 lbs.

Yeah in one of the updates they changed the balance of how much xp you get for doing quests way below your level - so it's almost nothing. I do them still mainly because sometimes the little side plots are interesting, and sometimes you get good loot.

I collect crap until I can't carry anymore (also 160lbs), then go on a sales run and get rid of all armor/weapons I don't use. I tend to hoard all the alchemy/crafting stuff for use later on, but I'm sure I won't use 99% of it.

How often do you change swords? Do you use different ones for different types of enemies? I typically just use the silver and steel with the highest rating, but for some reason I am holding on to about 6 swords that are worth decent money but dont use. Maybe I should just dump them.

So far I just use one of each. But yeah I suppose you could justify having a couple different ones with different runes/bonuses for different classes of monsters... too much trouble for me though. I just keep the best I find and sell the rest.

i keep the other swords because they're sentimental (like the cheese one - emmantalier, dont do much damage but shit looks pretty)

i keep about three or four swords, mostly two of silver and steel.

i am also about to bounce dandelion, but also trying to do the last mission with triss.

The problem with open game quest tho sometimes is that you do so much of the main quest, some of the sidequest is NOT accessible anymore due to your progression, this is why i love doing the sidequest more first, then work on the others. Good example is the Eye for an Eye quest with Roche, which cannot be accessed after you get to work with the 'guy who plays chess' (didnt want to give that away)...

Just a quick heads up, for your books there is a librarian in the novingrade square area (the one with the shell guy who you buy shells from - this was fixed tho already), where you can sell your books at a better rate than others. Which means more than a dollar. :happy-smileygiantred:

What armor you guys got?

Got me some enhanced feline armor. :happy-smileygiantred:

(for some reason enhanced always sounded like some blue pill perverted version of the armor)

After a bit of a hiatus last week for obvious reasons, am getting back into it. I think I'm nearing end-game, am at level 31, all mutagen slots filled (with points to spare, may do some re-allocation), sporting a full set of mastercrafted Griffin gear (armor + swords), have finished *all* the witcher contracts, not much more than regular plot stuff now. Good story development, challenging fights (Irleith or whatever the hell that wild hunt general's name was), had to play that one several times before I managed to defeat him.

Damn this is a long game. I've clocked something like 140 hours, and am still on the first run-through and not even finished. Skyrim was probably more like 80 hours to finish the main plot line - though I did it with several characters so it adds up. Not sure Witcher 3 has quite the re-playability of Skyrim or other RPGs... we'll see.

so master brewer, teach me a bit more about decoctions...I didn't quite understand it so well. Its like potions right, I have to make em and consume them prior to fights.

I saw you can also 'add' on more grenades. man... I gotta respec again...good thing I have like 6 of em. :happy-smileygiantred:

I haven't used decoctions much, if at all. From what I can tell, they're single-use potions, because most of them create such high toxicity that you can only use one at a time - and no regular potions after that. I tend to use mostly tawny owl and swallow (I think - one to make signs stronger and one for healing). But I'm not a potions specialist.
